1296736 Pressure doors CMI CORP 2 Oct 1970 46966/70 Heading F2P [Also in Division E1] A bin B (see Division E1) for storing a hot asphalt mix in an inert atmosphere has a receiving opening 26 which is closable by a pressure-tight door 20, the door being held in sealing relationship with the opening by springs (38, Fig. 3, not shown) which are mounted on pistonrods 36 of four fluid-pressure lifting cylinders 37, the rods 36 being secured to the door and the lifting cylinder being mounted on a frame 29 which is horizontally slidable on a guide frame 21 by a further fluid-pressure cylinder 34, the operation of the cylinders 34, 37 being controlled in a manner such that the door is opened by first lifting it and then sliding it away from the opening 26, and the control circuit for the motor M1 including a relay (L5, Fig. 5, not shown) which is energized by operation of a limit switch LS4 by the door in its open position such that the conveyer C can be driven only when the door is fully open. The bin is discharged by opening clam gates 13, 14, pivoted at 15, 16 and geared together for simultaneous operation by a fluid-pressure cylinder 18. A casing surrounds the clam gates to provide a discharge chamber 52 having a discharge opening 40 which is sealed by a door 20<SP>1</SP>, the door 20<SP>1</SP> being operated in a similar manner to the door 20 by fluid-pressure cylinders 34<SP>1</SP>, 37<SP>1</SP>. The control circuit (Fig. 5, not shown) includes limit switches LS3, LS2, (LS1) responsive to each door being in fully open or fully closed position, respectively. The circuit controls, via a relay system, supply valves V2, V5, which supply fluid from FS to the cylinders 37, 37<SP>1</SP> for lifting off the upper and lower doors 20, 20<SP>1</SP>, respectively, by means of solenoids SOL-6, SOL-3, and which, by means of further solenoids SOL-4, SOL-5. SOL-2, SOL-1 controlling shuttle valves V4, V7, cause fluid to be directed to the appropriate end of cylinders 34, 34<SP>1</SP>, respectively, for sliding the respective doors away from and towards the respective openings 26, 40. An independent fluid circuit comprising a shuttle valve V8 controlled by solenoids SOL-7, SOL-8 supplies fluid to the appropriate end of the clam gateoperating cylinder 18.
