Abstract

1291960 Photographic stripping film OZALID CO Ltd 7 Jan 1971 850/71 Heading G2C A dry stripping film comprising a translucent support coated with at least two layers, the layer nearest the support being dry, strippable from the support, the layer farthest from the support containing a light-sensitive substance which becomes hardened or alkali-soluble on exposure, the layers also containing a pigment which is not in the light-sensitive layer and a pressuresensitive adhesive which is not in the layer nearest the support unless it is encapsulated, the adhesive is capable of being transferred with the pigment by rubbing pressure to a recovery sheet after exposure and development of the film. Preferably there are either (i) three layers, a pigmented layer, an adhesive layer and a negative working photo-resist layer or (ii) two layers, a pigmented layer containing encapsulated resin and a positive working photo-resist layer coated on a transparent polymeric support. Specified adhesives are acrylic resins with an alkyl modified ester resin polyvinyl isoputyl ether with a rosin tackifier and polyisobutylenes with a silicon filler, the adhesives are usually mixed with silica to reduce surface tackiness. Light-sensitive compounds are dichromates, diazo anhydrides, diazonium salts, tetrazo compounds, and benzoquinone diazide dispersed in novolak, polyvinyl alcohol or acetate, or gum arabic. The support may have a silicone release coating and the light-sensitive layer may contain the adhesive.
