Abstract

1284722 Photographic processing apparatus S RATOWSKY 11 Aug 1969 [10 Aug 1968 11 March 1969] 38333/68 and 12655/69 Heading G2A Photographic processing apparatus, and a method of use thereof, utilizing a carrier 10 as described and claimed in Specification 1284723 comprises a pipe 39 for introducing processing liquid into the carrier to form a pool 40 therein, the liquid being retained by end caps 12 of the drum 11 forming the carrier; and rollers 30, one of which is rotated at a constant speed, to rotate the drum 11. As the drum rotates, first one cam 21 and then a second carried thereby contact the rollers 30 causing the carrier to oscillate in a vertical plane about a fulcrum on its longitudinal axis, thereby to agitate the liquid 40 and prevent streaking of the finished prints. After this processing step has been effected, the liquid 40 is removed and the drum replaced on the rollers 30 for further rotation and oscillation with either another pool of processing liquid or with water introduced continuously through the pipe 39, excess water flowing out of the carrier through apertures 14 into a tank 31 which contains liquid used for temperature control purposes. The drum 11 may carry one or more sheets 25 of material to be processed, or a roll film may be wound on a cage which is allowed to roll inside the drum during processing. In another embodiment, Fig. 7, the drum 11 has an annular guide ring 60 instead of the cams 21, which ring engages in a slot of a rockable tray 63. The tray carries spaced parallel users 66 on its upper face, each user having a uniformly raised portion 67a, 67b respectively. The portions 67a, 67b are offset with respect to each other so as to cause oscillation of the carrier 10 as it rolls in the tray 63.
