Abstract

1280455 Bleaching polyphosphate granules PROCTER & GAMBLE Ltd 25 July 1969 [25 July 1968] 35497/68 Heading C5D A granular detergent composition comprising sodium tripolyphosphate, chlorinated trisodium phosphate (crystals of trisodium phosphate and sodium hypochlorite) and sodium silicate is produced by spraying a particulate mixture of substantiallyanhydroussodiumtripolyphosphate and chlorinated trisodium phosphate with an aqueous solution of sodium silicate whereby the particles are agglomerated and then passing air at a temperature of up to 35‹ C., preferably up to 25‹ C., through a bed of the agglomerated particles, whereby the moisture content of the composition is reduced by not more than 3% by wt. of the composition. Particulate sodium silicate having a ratio SiO 2 /Na 2 O by wt. of 1 : 1 to 3À6: 1 may be present. At least 15% by wt. of sodium tripolyphosphate is present, the particles being such that no more than 20% pass a 100 mesh B.S.S. test sieve. The sodium silicate solution contains 20 to 50% solids and is used in quantities of 10 to 25% of the composition at a temperature of 35‹ to 75‹ C. Up to 3% of a liquid non-ionic detergent e.g. a polypropylene glycol ethylene oxide condensate may be sprayed on to the mixture before, after or simultaneously with the spraying of the sodium silicate solution. Optional ingredients are conventional colours, perfumes, stabilizers for the chlorinated phosphate and tarnish inhibitors. Specification 1,022,731 is referred to.
