Abstract
1,274,533. Magnetic holding devices. BINDER MAGNETE K.G. 4 Sept., 1969 [4 Sept., 1968], No. 43845/69. Heading H1P. A permanent magnetic clamping plate comprises a ferromagnetic base 1 carrying a non- magnetic frame 2 within which is carried a row of alloy magnets 4, poled alternately, and vertically separated by ferromagnetic strips 5 and non-magnetic webs 6; the system being held together by bolts 7 and horizontally movable by an eccentric 9 with location by grooves 11 and pins 10. A stationary pole plate 12 carried by frame 2 comprises ferromagnetic strips 13 separated by non-magnetic strips 16 and screwed to base-plate 1, while barium ferrite magnets 17 similar in dimensions to the magnets 4 are inserted into the separator gaps and alternately poled horizontally, with faces masked by non-magnetic strips 15. In switched on condition (Fig. 2) the movable system is positioned so that the fluxes of magnets 4 and 17 add at the surface to engage a workpiece, while in switched off condition (Fig. 1) the movable system is displaced one pole step and the flux circuit is closed within the magnetic system and no flux appears at the surface.
