Abstract

1,274,443. Automatically positioned subsurface float. E.M.I. ELECTRONICS CANADA Ltd. 11 July, 1969 [16 July, 1968], No 33731/68. Heading B7A. A float 2 is to be held at a given depth by a sinker 1 which is initially linked to the float by manacle 4 and locking rod 19. Cable 15 connecting the float to the sinker is paid out from spindle 26 by rotating fairlead 20, and inertial lock 21-24 prevents further paying-out of the cable on impact of the sinker with the sea bed. Spring 27 enables the locking rod to be withdrawn at the pressure of the preset depth so as to release the manacle.
