Abstract

1,274,195. Degassing liquids. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. 21 May, 1969 [21 May, 1968], No. 24232/68. Heading B1M. The carbon dioxide content in solution or suspension in a liquid is reduced by introducing into a flowing stream of the liquid an inert sparingly soluble gas and inducing turbulence in the stream in a region downstream of the point of introduction of the inert gas. The method may be carried out in apparatus similar to that described in Specification 1,156,417. Liquids that may be treated are water, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, organic solvents and oils. The gas may be nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen, hydrocarbons or nitrous oxide.
