Abstract

1,268,147. Electric couplings. FUJIKURA CABLE WORKS Ltd. 18 Aug., 1970 [27 Aug., 1969; 28 Aug., 1969], No. 39716/70. Heading H2E. [Also in Division H1] A jumper device for an overhead electric power transmission line comprises a rigid jumper conductor rod 1, each end of such rod being connected to a supporting fitting 3 by a support rod 2 and a pivotal link 4. Conductors 12 electrically connect the jumper rod to the transmission lines 11, the fittings 3 being suspended between strain insulators 5 and the transmission lines via yoke 8 and segments 9. Spacers 14 separate the conductors 12. The jumper rod may be a hollow aluminium tube, a composite conductor of inner iron and outer aluminium tubes, or in the form of a helical iron cored aluminium pipe having an outer layer of stranded aluminium conductor. A second embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), has sloping rods 2 arranged to give reduced jumper rod length. The length of the rod 2 may be adjusted with a vernier arrangement 17 (Fig. 9) and the conductor 12 attached to the jumper rod by a clamp (indicated in Fig. 9 at X1-X1), Fig. 11 (not shown).
