Abstract

[Also in Division G3] An electromagnetically operated device such as a solenoid motor driving a vibratory feeder comprises a coil 10 connected to an A.C. supply 12 in series with a resistor 14, the resistor being connected to a rectifying circuit comprising thyristors 16 the gates of which are provided with signals, which are variable in phase, from a pulse generator 22 so as to control the level of the alternating current flowing in the coil 10. When the value of the direct current injected into the circuit is low the solenoid motor will oscillate with a small amplitude and when the direct current level is high the motor amplitude will be high. The pulse generator can be controlled by a signal derived from the solenoid motor so as to maintain constant the amplitude of the vibratory feeder.
