Abstract
1,256,928. Coating by hot dipping. AUSTRALIAN WIRE INDUSTRIES PTY., Ltd. March 7, 1969 [March 8, 1968], No. 12286/69. Heading C7F. A wire 10 is galvanized by passing it through a bath of molten zinc and then upwardly through an open ended chamber containing granules 13 of e.g. gravel and having an opening 20 for supplying a non-oxidising gas, e.g. liquid petroleum gas, blast furnace gas, annealing furnace gas or coke oven gas containing hydrogen sulphide. The S.G. of the granules is 2À0 to 4À5 and their size from to “ inch. The chamber has detachable plates 12a, 12b to allow the granules to be renewed. Several wires may be galvanized simultaneously.
