1,253,646. Dithiophosphoric acid esters. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 5 March, 1970 [19 March, 1969; 30 May, 1969], No. 10633/70. Heading C2P. The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I: where R 1 and R 2 are hydrogen, halogen or C 1-4 alkyl, R 3 to R 8 are hydrogen, C 1-3 alkyl or chloromethyl, R 9 is C 1-7 alkyl or haloalkyl, X is chlorine or bromine and n is 0 or 1, which may be prepared by (a) reacting a compound of the Formula II: with a suitably substituted benzyl mercaptan in the presence of an acid binding agent or (b) reacting a compound of the Formula IV: with a mercaptan R 9 SH in the presence of an acid binding agent. The compounds of Formula I have fungicidal, insecticidal and acaricidal properties, and may be employed in pesticidal compositions with the usual diluents or carriers and other additives. The compounds of Formulµ II and IV may be prepared by reacting a 2-chlorodioxaphospholane-(1,3,2) or 2-chlorodioxaphosphorinane- (1,3,2) derivative with the appropriate alkyl or aralkyl sulphenic acid chloride.
