Abstract

1,253,398. Feeding bottles. I. MICHAELS. 20 Feb., 1970 [19 Nov., 1969], No. 56674/69. Heading A5X. A device for use in an infant's feeding bottle comprises a tubular portion 1 having an integral or attached bung 2 at an upper end and a lower end 3 which is able to reach to the bottom of a feeding bottle, the bung being adapted to make an air-tight fit with the teat of the bottle and including a valve 5 for controlling the flow of liquid through the device. As shown, the valve comprises a ball 5 within a chamber 6, alternatively, the valve comprises a self-sealing slot (Figures 3A, 3B, not shown) or a flap member (16, 17, Figure 4, not shown). The device may be of a rubber or a plastics material and is provided to enable an infant to suck liquid from the bottle without inverting the bottle.
