Abstract

1,252,413. Measuring weight electrically. P.W. RICH and D.J. SADDLER. Feb.5, 1969 [Nov.8, 1967], No.50684/67. Heading G1N. Load cells are mounted on the springs of road vehicles to measure the weight of the vehicle. They may be mounted on, between the leaves of, or under respective leaf springs and may all be connected in a common temperature-compensated D.C. bridge circuit having an indicator in the driver's cab. Each load cell may comprise a beryllium copper ring with six equally spaced resistive foil strain gauges bonded to its inner surface to provide a temperature compensated arrangement, Fig.9 (not shown). Alternatively the strain gauges may be bonded to a spring steel plate, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). Circuit diagrams are given, but not described.
