Abstract

1,245,214. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. 16 April, 1970 [29 April, 1969], No. 18110/70. Heading H2E. A tab receptacle, stamped and bent from sheet metal, comprises a receptacle portion comprising a base 6 and two slotted sides 7 which converge longitudinally towards the crimping portions 3, 4 of the receptacle. The sides 7 may be bowed inwardly to overlie the base, and the base may be bent upwardly both longitudinally and transversely to resiliently deform and grip a longitudinally inserted tab (20, Fig. 7, not shown) between itself and the sides 7. A dimple 19 may also be provided to engage a corresponding recess in an inserted tab and ears 24 may be provided to guide a tab into the slots 8. An indentation 23 strengthens the portion between the receptacle and crimping portions. Crimping ferrules 3 and 4 grip a bared wire end and insulation thereof respectively. Such receptacles may be formed in a continuous strip, joined by portions (13, 14, Fig. 6, not shown).
