Abstract

124,122. Walter, A. R. June 11, 1918. Pocket igniters, frictional.-The tinder cord c of a pocket igniter for cigars &c. is carried in a cylindrical holder b, which slides telescopically in a tubular igniter body a provided with spring gripping tongues d. The lower end of the holder may be open, or closed, by a screw plug h, and the upper end is provided with a spring tongue to which the ball closing the upper end of the tubular body is attached by a chain f. The ignition device is attached to the tubular body, and comprises an ignition wheel j and a tube l carrying a pyrophoric block m, which is held in contact with the ignition wheel by a spring-pressed plunger n. The plunger rod is formed with a projecting portion r for depressing the plunger to allow the replacement of the pyrophoric material. The tinder cord may be impregnated with petrol and serve as a wick. The Provisional Specification states that a pin may be inserted through a hole in the holder to prevent the tinder cord from being pulled out.
