Abstract

1,240,058. Enzyme-containing detergents. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. 19 Feb., 1969 [12 April, 1968], No. 9009/69. Heading C5D. An enzyme-containing detergent composition comprises, by wt., a mixture of an organic detergent and an alkaline builder salt in a weight ratio of alkaline builder salt to organic detergent of 30: 1 to 1: 4, 0001 to 10% of an alkaline protease which is (1) a subtilisin derived from Carlsberg Bacillus subtilis, (2) a subtilisin derived from an X-ray mutated Bacillus subtilis or (3) a mixture thereof, and 0À0003 to 3% of an alpha amylase, in a molecular ratio of alkaline protease to alpha amylase of 30: 1 to 3: 1. The composition is preferably in the form of granules comprising by wt. (A) 80-98% of detergent granules having a pH in aqueous solution at a concentration of 0À12% wt. of 8À5 to 11, and comprising alkaline builder salts and organic detergents in the aforesaid proportions; (B) 2 to 20% of enzyme carrier granules having a pH in saturated aqueous solution of 5À0 to 10À5 and comprising by weight of granules (1) 20- 80% sodium tripolyphosphate or mixtures of sodium tripolyphosphate and sodium pyrophosphate, (2) 5 to 50% anionic synthetic organic detergent, (3) 1À0 to 7À0% water, (4) 0À01 to 50% of the aforesaid alkaline protease and (5) 0À003 to 15% of an α-amylase, (4) and (5) being in the aforesaid proportions. The organic detergents may be soap, anionic, nonionic (including amine oxides), zwitterionic or ampholytic synthetic detergents or mixtures thereof. The builder salts may be (A) inorganic e.g. alkali metal carbonates, phosphates, polyphosphates or silicates; (B) organic e.g. alkali metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium polyphosphonates, polyacetates or polycarboxylates; and mixtures of (A) and (B). The polycarboxylate salts are as described in Specification 1,054,755. Other ingredients may be (a) bleaching agents e.g. sodium perborate, (b) inert salts e.g. Na 2 SO 4 , (c) conventional detergent adjuvants.
