Abstract

1,238,103. Intercommunication systems. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 5 June, 1969 [7 June, 1968], No .28431/69. Heading H4K. A telecommunication system includes a plurality of sub-stations connected to a common multiconductor which carries on one line a general A.C. selection signal applied to two changeover contacts through two oppositely poled rectifiers so that the A.C. signal can be selectively applied to two other lines by operation of the contacts wherein this signal causes an evaluation unit to operate a connecting unit to connect the sub-station to the speech lines. The changeover contacts, rectifiers evaluation and connection units are housed at the sub-station. As shown an audio frequency general selection signal is applied via line 1 to the connection between rectifiers Gl5<SP>1</SP>, Gl6<SP>1</SP> in each sub-station and a halfwave A.C. signal selectively transmitted on lines 2, 3 by operation of one of keys T1<SP>1</SP>-T4<SP>1 </SP>. Receiving rectifiers Gl1<SP>1</SP>-Gl4<SP>1</SP> are connected to evaluating units W1<SP>1</SP>, W2<SP>1</SP> in any desired combination so that each sub-station responds to its own pattern of transmitted A.C. signals. An enabling line F1<SP>1</SP> connects units W1<SP>1</SP>, W2<SP>1</SP> so that when W1<SP>1</SP> responds it enables W2<SP>1</SP> so that it can receive a second signal within a fixed time. On receipt of a signal, connecting unit B<SP>1</SP> is operated to connect the transmission device Ue<SP>1</SP> to the line through contacts a<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>1</SP>. More than two digits may be used for selection and the number of evaluating units is increased accordingly, alternatively a further four changeover contacts may be provided transmitting on to lines 4, 5 of the multiconductor. Group and collective call facilities can be obtained by the use of additional keys at the sub-stations. Multiple seizing of the multi-conductor lines can be prevented using known circuits. The evaluating and connection units can use either relays or electronic switches. In telemetering and like installations, some of the stations may be adapted only to be called.
