Abstract

1,204,044. Article storage system. MANNESMANN A.G. 14 June, 1968 [16 June, 1967], No. 28517/68. Heading A4T. [Also in Division B8] In a mechanical pallet store an intermediate store 2 serves a shelf block 4 which in turn serves a despatch stone 6 transfer between the parts 2, 4, 6 being by lift trucks 16 controlled from or via attendant machines 3, 5 which are capable of vertical and horizontal movement. Each lift truck 16, Fig 3 has four independently operable lift platforms 17 of the size of a pallet provided with wheel sets 20 on which the pallets can be pushed when the platforms 17 are lowered to allow contact with the wheels. The shelves 4 are a multiple of the length of the trucks 16. The intermediate store 2 is supplied in the direction 23 with pallets from a production line and is discharged by the pallets being pushed on to a lift truck 16 running on tracks 25, 26 driven by an electric drive connected by cables with the attendant machine 3 which when loaded with the truck positions it vertically and horizontally operate the appropriate pallet-channel 9 in the block 4 on to which the truck is driven to deposit the pallets as near the far end as possible. The pallets are withdrawn from the channels 9 by a truck 16<SP>1</SP> of the attendant machine 5 for movement to a similar dispatch store 6.
