Abstract

1,202,534. Measuring magnetic field strength. ELLIOTT BROS. (LONDON) Ltd. Nov.14, 1967 [Nov.19, 1966], No.41214/69. Divided out of 1,202,533. Heading G1N. Electrical output signals g 1 , g 2 , g 3 from three magnetometers arranged to sense three mutually perpendicular components of a magnetic field are corrected for stray fields by subtracting from each output signal a respective signal h 1 , h 2 , h 3 dependent on the effects of any stray magnetic fields and then multiplying the resulting signals by respective factors p 11 , p 12 , &c. dependent on the distorting effects of any magnetic material and adding the resulting signals in the manner indicated in Fig.2 to obtain three signals f 1 , f 2 , f 3 representing the output signals of the magnetometers which would be obtained in the absence of stray fields and magnetic material. The signals h 1 , h 2 , h 3 may be dependent on an electrical input applied to electrical equipment producing the stray fields. The magnetometers may be fluxgate magnetometers of the type described in Specification 1, 202, 533.
