Abstract
117,979. Ingleby, E. C. Aug. 28, 1917. Inhalers. - The device, which may be employed for the administration of inhalants or anµsthetics, comprises a mask a provided with an inturned flange b, Fig. 2, serving to collect moisture and with a container for a medicated pad. The container consists of two telescoping tubes d, e pierced with holes f, g. Formed at one end of the tube d is a flared mouthpiece adapted to project into the mask, the flared end being either open or closed by a perforated plate. An enlargement m is provided on the tube e to contain the pad, an opening q, having inturned lips r, serving to admit air. Where the enlargement m is formed as a separate piece, double flared lips s, Fig. 6, are formed either both on the part m or one on the tube e, and the pad o may be supported by pins t. In use, the quantity of air passing through the opening q may be varied by rotating the tube c to open the holes f, g. All the apertures may be covered with wiregauze and the pad may be supported between pieces of the same material.
