Abstract

1,175,444. Cathode-ray tubes. THORN-AEI RADIO VALVES & TUBES Ltd. 3 March, 1967, No. 10272/67. Heading H1D. The disclosed cathode-ray tube implosion guard is identical to that of Specification 1,175,443, but the claims are directed to a guard in which the front margin, nearest the face of the tube, of the encircling frame formed by the two U-shaped metal strips is a close fit on and is bonded to the flange, while the rear margin remote from the face of the tube is progressively increasingly spaced from the envelope, with the space filled with an adhesive which adheres to the glass and to the metal of the frame, and a metal tension band encircles the front margin of the frame.
