Abstract

[Also in Division A1] A self-propelled vehicle for use with alternative agricultural or works-site attachments comprises a chassis having two flanks d and g, each of which includes a leg 8 and a strut 9 joined at an acute angle and interconnected by a support member 10 to the leg and one driven wheel 11, the two flanks being joined by a cross-member 1, a transmission 4 and a power unit preferably supported by the cross-member 1, vehicle reversing means, p.t.o. means (13), (Fig. 2, not shown) for driving an attachment and fixing means for an attachment on the flanks at a lower level than the cross-member, preferably comprising support surfaces which are transverse to the flanks. Each flank in Fig. 1 comprises a leg 8, enclosing a chain drive to the wheel 11 and two members 9, 10 in a triangular formation. The leg 8 is pivotal relative to the member 9 to adapt the height of the crossmember 1, which passes above the attachment with which the vehicle is used, to different attachments and the member 10 may be of arcuate form. The flanks are joined by further cross-members 3, 2, the latter carrying a driver's seat and an hydraulic three-point lift linkage 6 for a plough. The cross-member 2 may be replaced by a reaper-thresher, baler or other device which stiffens the vehicle. In an alternative construction, Fig. 4, each flank is formed from telescopic tubular horizontal members 9, 16 and two legs 8 and 15 supported respectively by a driven wheel and a steerable wheel and the motor 4a is slidably mounted on vertical supports 17 and connected to the transmission 4b by a shaft or belts and pulleys.
