Abstract

1,146,539. Polyurethane bonded glass laminates. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 30 Aug., 1967 [21 Sept., 1966], No. 42204/66. Heading B5N. A process for the manufacture of laminated glass comprises introducing a liquid mixture of 4: 4<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanatediphenyl methane and a hydroxyl-ended polymer between two sheets of glass and allowing the mixture to react to provide a solid interlayer. The polymer may be a polyester, a polyether or a polyesteramide and may be linear or slightly branched. Chain extenders e.g. low molecular weight polyols, aminoalcohols or polyamides and catalysts may be present in the mixtures. In a modification of the process, the mixture may comprise an isocyanate-ended polyurethane made by reacting the diisocyanate and polymer, together with a polyhydroxy material, aminoalcohol or polyamine.
