Abstract

1,142,342. Amusement apparatus. NYHA N.V. and RECTICEL Ltd. 18 Feb., 1966 [27 April, 1965], No. 17675/65. Heading A6M. Amusement apparatus comprises a beam 1 pivoted about a horizontal axis, a continuous walking-track 15 fixed to the beam at or adjacent one end thereof in a vertical plane parallel to that in which the beam rotates, and, fixed to the beam at or adjacent the other end, a counterweight 2 whose value is such that the beam is substantially balanced when a person is situated at the centre of the walking-track. A seat 20 with hand-grips 23 and safety-chain 24 may be rotatably situated at the centre of the track, or a person may stand on the track holding suitable handgrips. In use, a person walks either toward the fulcrum of the beam, thus moving his centre of gravity towards the fulcrum and causing the weight 2 to be lowered, or away from the fulcrum, moving his centre of gravity so that the weight 2 rises, so that alternate walking movements forward and backward cause a see-saw type of effect to be achieved. Continouus rotation of the beam may also be achieved.
