Abstract

1,137,265. Electromagnetic indicators. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 15 Aug., 1966 [20 Aug., 1965], No. 36365/66. Heading G4F. An indicator comprises a housing 3 containing an electromagnet 21, the coil 23 of which is energized in the event of a fault to attract, against the force of a spring 40, an armature 25 which is pivoted at 24 on a yoke 2. Flag-type indicator plates 26, 27 movable in a substantially vertical direction are mounted on arms 28, 29 pivoted at 30 on yoke 2. A latch 33 on arm 28 co-operates with a latch 36 on armature 35. When a fault occurs electromagnet 21 is energized, Fig. 3 (not shown), armature 25 pivots at 24 and latches 33, 36 disengage to allow plate 26 to fall until it engages projection 34 on arm 29 and contacts 45 on contact strips 31, 32 contact each other to actuate an audible alarm. Plate 26 may be viewed through a window 43 in housing 3. To reset plate 26 and to indicate that the fault has been confirmed, plates 26, 27 are raised by means of a pusher 39 until a latch 35 on arm 29 engages a latch 37 on armature 25, plate 27 then being visible in window 43, Fig. 4 (not shown). When the fault is cleared latch 37 on armature 25 releases latch 35 on arm 29 to allow plate 27 to drop, Fig. 2, a fixed plate 42 being then visible through window 43. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), plates (50), (51) are slidably mounted on a vertical guide member (5).
