Abstract

1,132,055. Casting processes. METALLGESELLSCHAFT, A.G. 20 Jan., 1966 [22 Jan., 1965], No. 2726/66. Heading B3F. [Also in Division C7] Cast iron is inoculated by flowing past a stationary inoculant in the runner or gate system of a mould. The inoculant may be a shaped body such as a strainer core, or a pipe form through which the metal flows; the body may consist entirely of inoculant or partially of refractory. The inoculants may be alloys having compositions within the range the silicon optionally being replaced with one or more of copper, nickel or tin.
