Abstract

1,129,692. Cine apparatus. PAIL LARD S. A. Feb. 20, 1967 [March 8, 1966], No.7966/67. Heading G2E. [Also in Division G5] In rewinding mechanism which may be applied to cine film, magnetic tapes or other webs, the spool in magazine 2 is driven initially at high speed until the web is nearly re-wound, and then an element 38 sensitive to a reduction in web tension reduces the re-winding speed. The spool is driven by a side-wheel 11 engaging, through an intermediate roller 12, a wheel 13 whose shaft carries a rubber faced disc 15 opposite a parallel, but axially off-set similar disc 27. Disc 27 is driven through gears 25, 26 by motor M and a variable speed driving transmission between the discs is provided by an axially slidable friction roller 28 carried on an arm 30 pivoted at 31, and spring-loaded at 33. Fast re-wind from spool 6 is started by depression of button 34 to pivot arm 30 and so move rollers 28 to the periphery of disc 27, arm 30 thus being retained by the spring-loaded rod 37 engaging dog 36. The end 38 of rod 37 rides on the web or film F until tension falls and arm 30 is released to pivot back to the low-speed position of roller 28. This position is determined by stop 40.
