Abstract

1,115,843. Radio receivers; transistor mixer and amplifier circuits. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNG G.m.b.H. 16 Aug., 1965 [18 Sept., 1964], No. 34963/65. Headings H3Q and H3T. A mixer valve or transistor 9, for a multiband radio or T.V. receiver, is connected to operate as a self-oscillating mixer in one waveband and is switched to operate as an additive mixer in another waveband. As shown, in the V.H.F. position of switch 13, V.H.F. signals are fed via the V.H.F. radio frequency amplifier 32 to the emitter of transistor 9 together with signals from the V.H.F. oscillator 16 so that additive mixing occurs to produce an I.F. output at 15. In the U.H.F. position of switch 13, an oscillator feedback loop 10 is coupled to the emitter by lead 12 so that transistor 9 acts as a self-oscillating mixer. U.H.F. signals are received via an input filter 25 and a U.H.F. radiofrequency amplifier 26. The output resonant circuit 28, of the amplifier 26, is formed by an inner conductor 27, and is coupled via an aperture 3 in a wall 4 to the inner conductor 5 which forms the input resonant circuit I of the mixer transistor 9. Change from Band I, III, or U.H.F. is effected by switch 23. In another mixer circuit (Fig. 2, not shown), U.H.F. signals are fed to the emitter of a common base connected self-oscillating mixer 9 in one switch position, and in the other switch position V.H.F. signals are fed to the base together with a local oscillator signal and the transistor is connected as a common emitter additive mixer.
