Abstract

1,104,653. Test circuits. NEWALL ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. J.H. Phillips and K. Barraclough. June 30, 1966 [July 12, 1965], No. 29495/65. Heading G1U. [Also in Division H3] A test circuit, Fig. 1, comprises two triode indicator lamps 17, 18 connected as a long-tailed pair to a common cathode resistance 22. With no input applied to terminal 28, transistors 35, 37 are conducting and the potential at the collector of transistor 37 holds both lamps cut-off. Application of earth potential at terminal 28 switches off both transistors and the change in potential across the long tailed pair resistor 22 allows lamp 23 to switch on, lamp 24 being held off by the bias on its grid. Application to terminal 28 of a negative potential of greater magnitude than the bias on lamp 24 still switches off the transistors, but in this case lamp 24 lights. The circuit may be modified for positive inputs at terminal 28, and the elements may be mounted in a test probe, Fig. 2 (not shown) used in testing a mimic diagram.
