1,102, 556. Rotary-piston engines and compressors. USTAV PROVYZKUM MOTOROVYCH VOZIDEL. March 12, 1965 [March 13, 1964], No.10610/65. Heading F1F. In a rotary-piston I.C. engine, or compressor, an oil-sealing ring 1 is lodged in lateral portion of the piston 3 and pressed against a wall 5 of a casing for the piston by the pressure of oil acting upon a resiliently-flexible ring 2, which has a profile in a transverse cross-section that is either V-shaped, as shown, or X-shaped, Fig. 2 (not shown). The ring 1 is made of a wearresistant material e.g. grey cast-iron, and the ring 2 may be made of silicon rubber. Rotation of the ring 1 relative to the piston is prevented by e.g. a peg or pin 4. The resiliently-flexible ring according to Fig. 2 may be constituted by two rings having V-shaped profiles in cross-section and arranged back-to-back with their open sides facing away from each other in a radial direction.
