Abstract
1,095,588. Construction of labels. W. H. BRADY CO. Sept. 27, 1966 [Oct. 22, 1965], No. 43111/66. Heading B8F. [Also in Division G5]. A tab 9 (Fig. 4) on contactadhesive label provided with a backing strip engages a notch 10 in a similar adjacent label to align the labels. In the form shown in Fig. 4, parts 4c, 4d of the backing strip covering the legend are removed before the label is pressed into place so that the adhesive layer 3 on the legend engages the surface to which the label is applied. The part of the label surrounding the legend, including the backing strip, is then removed as a whole along cut or perforated lines defining the legend. To facilitate removal the backing sheet may be cut at 8. In an alternative construction the legend portion 2 (Fig. 8) is secured by the contact adhesive to a backing strip divided into two parts by the cut line 8. The other part 4a of the backing strip is removed before the label is applied to the surface, where it is aligned with adjacent labels by the tabs 9 and notches 10. After the upper part of the legend is secured the lower part is then raised to allow the remainder of the backing strip to be peeled away.
