Abstract

The hinge axis of a glass door can be arranged at one of two different distances from the adjacent door edge (Figs. 1 and 2) or the axis can be arranged to lie outside the plane of the door. In the first case, Fig. 10, in which the door swings through 90‹, a block having two holes - one of circular and one of square cross-section - is positioned in the hinge fitting secured to the glass door. The block is turned through 180‹ to reverse the positions of the holes. The circular hole engages the upper hinge pin and the square hole engages the lower hinge pin which is connected to a spring door closer embedded in the floor. To move the hinge axis out of the plane of the door, the block is exchanged for one shown in Fig. 11 having the hole offset. With this embodiment the door can open through 180 degrees. In another embodiment (Figs. 12- 15) two retractable pins are provided in a block, one only being extended at a time according to which axis (in the plane of the door) is required.
