Abstract

1,057,771. Hearing aids. CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE. Jan. 30, 1964 [Feb. 14, 1963], No. 4046/64. Headings H4J and H4R. In a hearing aid device at least one alternating voltage having a constant frequency in the range 350 to 1000 c/s. is amplitude modulated by signals within two frequency bands, one band extending from 1500 to 3500 c/s. and the other band having its lower limit within the range 4500 to 6000 c/s. and its upper limit within the range 7000 to 8000 c/s. One embodiment (Fig. 2) comprises a microphone 1, a preamplifier 2 and two filters 3 1 and 3 2 . Filter 3 1 passes only frequencies of 1500 to 3500 c/s. and filter 32 passes only frequencies of 4500 (or 6000) to 7000 (or 8000) c/s. Device 4 amplifies and ascertains the amplitude of the filtered signals. A source 5 produces a sinusoidal voltage of constant frequency within the range 350 to 1000 c/s. An amplifier 6 is provided for amplitude modulating the sinusoidal voltage in accordance with the curve forming the envelope of the output of filters 3 1 and 3 2 . The modulated voltage, after amplification in an amplifier 7, is applied to an earphone 8. Preferably a low-pass filter 9 having a cut-off frequency of 1000 c/s. is connected to a mixer 10 1 to which the output of amplifier 6 is also connected. In a second embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) separate devices 4 1 and 4 2 deal with the signals from filters 3 1 and 3 2 respectively. Two amplifiers 6 1 and 6 2 are provided, energized by two distinct sources 5 1 and 5 2 each producing a sinusoidal voltage of constant frequency within the range 350 to 1000 c/s., the frequencies being different from each other. Amplitude modulated signals at the outputs of amplifiers 6 1 and 6 2 are mixed in a mixer 11 before being applied to the mixer 10. Miniaturized circuits including semi-conductors may be used.
