Abstract

1,041,313. Centrifugal pumps and fans. K. I. EDWARD Aug. 17, 1964 [Aug. 22, 1963], No. 33451/64. Heading F1C. [Also in Division B1] Mixing apparatus for liquids and/or gases comprises a centrifugal pump having a rotor 5 with blades 8 and disc 14 perpendicular to the rotor axis, inlets 15, 16 for the fluids to be mixed and an outlet 18 for the mixed fluids. The disc 14 has slots 13 through which the blades 8 pass and is adjustable along the rotor axis by means of the screw 20, varying the cross-sections of the flow paths of the two fluids in complementary fashion, and thus their proportions in the mixture. Alternatively there may be two outlets the fluids not being mixed in the pump. The pump housing 3 is made in two parts 1, 2 and the rotor in two axial halves 9, 10, the blades 8 of the latter part having protuberances 11 engaging in notches 12 in the blades 8 in the part 9. The adjusting screw 20 acts on a bolt 22 engaged in the rotor by means of a bayonet catch formed by the pin 23 and slots 24, 26.
