Abstract
1,014,679. Ion-exchange. UNION TANK CAR CO. April 9, 1963 [May 2, 1962], No. 14099/63. Heading B1J. A liquid regenerant container 10, for treatment tank 13, has a float activated valve 11 and injector 12 normally submerged in regenerant. Liquid under pressure flows through passage 27 through injector to outlet 17. Regenerant solid salt is supported on shelf 39. Reduced pressure in chambers 22 and 19 draws closure members 33 and 32 off their seats and regenerant liquid flows via passages 50, 20, 19 to conduit 16 and treatment chamber leaving via drain conduit 64 until the liquid level descends to level of seat 35 when closure member 33 prevents further liquid flow. The quantity of regenerant in a cycle may be controlled by use of the device of Fig. 6 (not shown). The liquid level in regenerant reservoir 7 is replenished by reversing the supply through conduit 16 or through conduit 14 until float body 44 rises to close member 32 at its seat 34. Gases in the liquids escape during passage through the injector.
