Abstract

1,001,629. Valves; cam mechanism. ROTORK ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. June 18, 1964 [March 18, 1963], No. 10608/63. Headings F2K and F2V. An actuating mechanism, particularly for rotatable valves, comprises a threaded spindle 11 which is moved axially by the mechanical turning of the actuator 13. The axial movement causes rollers 26 of a cross-head 24 carried by the spindle to move in helical grooves 27, and so rotate the cross-head. Inner rollers 28 also carried by the pin 25 of the cross-head slide in axial slots 29 in a rotatable casing 30 causing this to rotate with the cross-head. The casing 30 is joined by a shaft 34 to a rotary valve closure member. The grooves 27 may be of various helical shapes according to the rate of movement required of the closure member or its equivalent at any time during rotation.
