Abstract

A decentralised database network in which the functionalities required for operation of the database and/or network are distributed between the nodes within the network. The system has a number of nodes each of which have a number of states including client and server components for both the database and a network. The extent of use of each of the components on each node is optimised depending upon the overall requirements of the database system.
