Abstract

A lock actuation mechanism 10 comprises a handle 42 and a base 44, in which the handle is adapted to operate both a latch 6 and a locking mechanism 26,28, and has a free wheel capability and can move from a first, rest, position in which the locking mechanism is unlocked and the latch engaged to either of two actuation positions, in one of which the latch is disengaged and the wing component is free to open and in the second of which the locking mechanism is locked and the wing component cannot be opened. The lock actuating mechanism further comprises a spring loaded locking pin 46 biased towards engagement in a cooperating aperture 48 provided in the base 44 of the locking mechanism, which aperture is aligned for engagement of the locking pin when the handle is in the locking position, to prevent rotation thereof. The locking pin is preferably provided with a lock and removable key operable to lock the locking pin in the engaged position. The mechanism may actuate shoot bolts 26,28, or any suitable single or multiple locking mechanism.
