Description
The invention relates to an arrangement comprising a light device capable of projecting information in the form of a light beam onto a foot of a windshield retaining post, in particular within a motor vehicle. The invention also relates to a vehicle equipped with such an arrangement.
It is known to equip motor vehicles or even the cockpits of planes, trains or ships with data display systems. Such systems can be in the form of light-emitting diode bars arranged on a dashboard or a windshield pillar base so as to directly display, on said bar, information relating to the vehicle, to the context outside the vehicle. and/or driver assistance systems. In the case of the integration of such a system in a stand, the information broadcast by such devices is nevertheless limited due to the complex shapes and small dimensions of the stand unsuitable for the integration of such display systems and to their electrical connection in particular. Increasing the volume of such feet is not a suitable solution, as this necessarily results in a reduction in the user's field of vision and an increase in the vehicle's blind spots, likely to generate risky situations when of driving. In addition, the information broadcast may be reflected on adjacent reflective surfaces, such as the windshield or windows, which may impact driving.
Other types of display systems, called "head-up" or HUD systems of the acronym "Head Up Display", allow the frontal display of information or instructions in the visual field of the user by reflection of a light beam on a plurality of reflective surfaces, in particular mirrors. Conventionally, head-up display systems include a unit for projecting a light beam, a plurality of reflective elements and a display comprising a display surface allowing the visualization of different information by the user. The display may be an independent, partially reflective glass slide. Alternatively, in the case of so-called “WHUD” display systems, from “Windshield Head Up Display”, the display can be a specific area of a windshield of the vehicle. Such display systems are fitted at the dashboard level but have the disadvantage of being very bulky and expensive. Also, in the case of motor vehicles, the integration of such systems is further complicated by the presence of numerous pieces of equipment on the front of the vehicle, for example the installation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (or HVAC). , ventilation and air-conditioning") and the numerous electronic components fitted to the dashboard.
The invention fits into this context and aims to provide an arrangement allowing the display of information on the feet of a windshield pillar of a vehicle, alone or in addition to other display systems, by overcoming the above disadvantages. The invention aims in particular to provide an inexpensive display system, having a small footprint and adapted to a vehicle interior.
- le pied comporte une surface principale, configurée pour être tournée vers l’intérieur d’un habitacle du véhicule, comportant au moins une surface d’affichage de l’au moins une information ;

The arrangement is such that:
- the foot comprises a main surface, configured to face the interior of a passenger compartment of the vehicle, comprising at least one display surface of the at least one piece of information;
- the dashboard is interposed between the light device and the foot along at least one direction, so that the light device is essentially not visible to a user, the dashboard comprising at least one opening capable of allowing the passage of the light beam;
- the light device comprises at least one light source and is configured and/or arranged so that the light beam coming from said light source, in particular at least one central axis of the light beam, is inclined relative to the dashboard so as to form an angle of inclination strictly less than 90° with a plane in which the dashboard extends around the light device in order to project at least one piece of information directly onto the display surface.
The foot may comprise a material with diffuse reflection, in particular a plastic material.
The at least one light source can extend to a distance from the main surface greater than or equal to 50mm.
The light device may include a plurality of light sources, each light source emitting a distinct light beam configured to be directed toward a distinct area of the display surface along at least one direction. In particular, the dashboard may include:
- a plurality of openings, each opening being capable of allowing the passage of at least one light beam specific to a light source of the plurality of light sources; and or
- at least one opening capable of allowing the passage of a plurality of light beams specific to light sources distinct from the plurality of light sources.
All or part of the plurality of light sources can extend, in particular within a plane orthogonal to the dashboard, equidistant from the main surface of the foot.
The arrangement may further comprise at least one glazed surface such as a window and/or a windshield, the foot extending in contact with the at least one glazed surface and the display surface being bordered by at least one intermediate border, included in the foot and interposed between the display surface and the at least one glazed surface along at least one direction, said intermediate border being dimensioned and/or arranged, relative to the surface display, so as to prevent the reflection of information on at least one glass surface.
The light device may include a light output, at which the light beam is emitted:
- the arrangement may further comprise a transparent window, arranged at the level of the opening and configured to be interposed between the light output and the foot along at least one direction; and or
- said outlet can be arranged in a recess, the dashboard being interposed between said recess and the foot along at least one direction.
The arrangement may further comprise at least one brightness sensor, configured to detect ambient brightness in the vicinity of the light device, and at least one control means, capable of adapting the light beam as a function of the ambient brightness measured by at least one sensor.

The vehicle 1 comprises, in known manner, a passenger compartment equipped with an exemplary embodiment of an arrangement 3 according to the invention. Generally speaking, the arrangement 3 comprises a dashboard 2 and at least one display system 4. The display system 4 comprises a light device 6 capable of emitting at least one piece of information in the form of a FAx light beam and a foot 9 of an amount configured to maintain a windshield 5 of the vehicle.
The light device 6 is particularly capable of projecting at least one piece of information onto at least one display surface 91 included in the foot 9. The display surface 91 is particularly configured to broadcast said information in a field of vision CVx d a user of the vehicle. As further explained below, a user considered may be a driver or a front passenger of the vehicle. Here we mean "field of vision" an area where the observer can view the entirety of the at least one piece of information displayed without moving his gaze, or at least in a negligible way, thus not requiring him to leave the roadway. eyes. This field of vision is in particular defined relative to a reference point K representative of the average gaze position of a user, the field of vision can then be moved by rotation around a vertical axis passing through said point. In particular, the human binocular field of vision is horizontally of the order of ±60° and vertically has limits of +50° and -70°. In this case, it is considered that the driver is looking at the roadway in front of him and that it constitutes at least partly the center of his vision. He must therefore, preferably without movement of the head, be able to perceive the information displayed on foot 9, particularly in his peripheral field of vision. Also, the type of information broadcast may be variable and may relate to the operation of the vehicle, to a context external to the vehicle, for example to objects present in a blind spot of the vehicle, and/or to information relating to a system. driving assistance.
In the example illustrated, the vehicle comprises two separate display systems 4, each aimed at displaying information on a separate foot 9 of the same amount holding the windshield 5. Said systems can be produced according to identical characteristics or according to different production options as explained below. Any description made with reference to a display system 4 can also extend to all or part of a plurality of display systems 4. It is understood that the present invention also extends to a vehicle comprising a single system display and/or any vehicle comprising additional display systems known from the prior art, in particular of the HUD type, from English “Head Up Display”, or WHUD from English “Windshield Head Up Display” , as further explained below.
The dashboard 2 is arranged at the front of the vehicle in such a way that the windshield 5 extends at least partly between a ceiling 10 of the passenger compartment and said dashboard 2 along at least one direction, in particular along the vertical direction Z. Conventionally, a plurality of equipment of a dashboard such as counters, in particular longitudinal speed, connections, in particular electrical, and at least in part an installation HVAC can extend in a volume 600 delimited by the dashboard 2. An external surface 2a of the dashboard 2 faces towards the windshield 5, and by extension towards the passenger compartment. The external surface 2a is in particular generally horizontal, in particular around the light feature 6. The external surface 2a is essentially in a plane, in particular around the light feature 6, forming an angle strictly less than 90° with an average plane of the windshield.
By “essentially” we mean at least 50% of a dimension of the foot 9 defined along the main direction of extension thereof. In particular, all or part of a portion of the foot 9 visible to the user is interposed between the dashboard 2 and the ceiling 10 along at least one direction, in particular along a first direction 100, parallel to the vertical direction Z.
The dashboard 2 extends in particular horizontally. It is thus interposed between the light device 6 and the foot 9 considered along at least one direction, in particular along the first direction 100 so that the light device 6 is essentially not visible to a user. By “essentially” we mean here that the dashboard 2 covers at least 50% of the lighting device 6. In particular, the dashboard 2 covers 75%, or even 100% of the lighting device 6. In this way, the lighting device 6 n is not directly in a CVx field of vision of the user when he is seated in the vehicle and looking straight ahead.
Conventionally, the dashboard 2 can be made of a plastic material, for example from the polypropylene family or the ABS-PC family. Optionally, the dashboard 2 can be at least partly treated, for example by means of a surface treatment of the painting type, and/or covered with a layer of fabric such as leather, imitation leather or drink.
The dashboard 2, in particular the external surface 2a, comprises at least one opening 21 capable of allowing the passage of the light beam FAx emitted by the light device 6 towards the display surface 91, that is to say in the direction of at least part of the foot 9. The at least one opening 21 extends facing at least part of the lighting device 6 along the first direction 100. Particularly, the opening 21 is extends at least opposite an output 61 of the light beam FAx. According to an exemplary embodiment, the dashboard 2 may comprise a plurality of openings 21 distributed in the dashboard 2, for example along the transverse direction Y and/or along the longitudinal direction X. The dimensions and shapes of the opening 21 or openings 21 can be defined according to the size of the desired display, the size and/or shape of the foot 9 considered and/or according to the aesthetic constraints of the dashboard 2. According to a particular, preferred embodiment, the plurality of openings 21 specific to a display system 4 considered may have identical shapes and dimensions.
The foot 9 is an elongated part delimiting at least partly the amount holding the windshield 5. The foot 9 can be mounted on the dashboard 2, so that it is interposed between the latter and the ceiling 10 of the vehicle along the first direction 100, or, alternatively, extend across the dashboard 2, for example at the level of a hole. The foot 9 may present, in a plane orthogonal to the first direction 100, a profile of variable shape, for example comprising rounded and/or straight sides. The foot 9 comprises at least one main surface 90, configured to face the interior of the passenger compartment of the vehicle, and therefore towards a user, comprising the at least one display surface 91. In particular, all or part of the main surface 90 is arranged in the user's field of vision.
Optionally but preferentially, the foot 9 comprises a material with diffuse reflection, in particular a plastic material such as a material from the polypropylene family or from the ABS-PC family, the surface finish of which is not shiny c that is to say whose surface condition preferably presents roughness. The foot can, for example, be covered with fabric.
The light device 6 comprises one or more light sources 62. The light device 6 further comprises a printed circuit or PCB, not shown, on which the at least one light source 62 is mounted . In the example illustrated, the light device 6 comprises, in a non-limiting manner, a plurality of light sources 62. Each light source 62 considered comprises a light output 61 which is specific to it, corresponding to an output surface of the emitted light beam FAx by said light source. It is understood that the description below, made with reference to a light source, can extend to all or part of the plurality of light sources 62 of the light device 6.
When the light device 6 comprises a plurality of light sources 62, the dashboard 2 can comprise a plurality of openings 21. Each opening 21 is then capable of allowing the passage of at least one FAx light beam specific to a light source 62 of the plurality of light sources 62. Alternatively or additionally, an opening 21 considered can be configured to allow the passage of a plurality of light beams FAx specific to light sources 62 distinct from the plurality of light sources 62.
In particular, the light-emitting diodes are of the RGB type for “Red, Green, Blue”. Advantageously, each light source can be activated selectively, independently, for example so as to present its own color, intensity and/or shape. When the light source comprises a plurality of light-emitting diodes, these can also be selectively activated so as to form a multipixel or pixelated light source. For example, the light device 6 may comprise one or more pixelated light source(s) comprising a plurality of electroluminescent emitters distributed in a plurality of pixels capable of emitting light rays forming the light beam FAx specific to the light source 62 considered. Particularly, the light device 6 is configured to allow the diffusion of information by reflection on the foot 9. Thus, unlike a conventional light-emitting diode bar, diffusing light rays in all directions, and in particular towards the user, the light device 6 included in the invention is arranged and configured to send light rays towards the foot 9 and allow reflection in a predefined zone thereof.
For example, the light source 62 may be an electroluminescent source comprising at least one matrix of monolithic electroluminescent elements. The configuration of such a source allows the arrangement of pixels which can be activated selectively, that is to say independently of each other, very close to each other, compared to conventional light-emitting diodes intended to be soldered onto printed circuit boards. Such a source thus allows the display of images or messages to be projected on the display surface 91. For example, a control unit can be coupled to the light source. The control unit can thus control or control the different pixels.
The light device 6 is configured and/or arranged so that the light beam FAx coming from the light source 62 considered is inclined relative to the dashboard 2, in particular relative to the external surface 2a. In particular at least one central axis 500 of the light beam is inclined relative to the dashboard 2 so as to form an angle strictly less than 90° relative to a plane in which the dashboard extends around the light device 6. in this way the light beam FAx is directed directly towards the display surface 91, in particular without being first reflected by another surface. We therefore mean here by "directly" that the light beam FAx is directed onto the display surface 91 of the foot 9, which reflects said information towards the user, without any other reflecting surface, such as a mirror, is interposed between the light device 6 and the display surface 91. In other words, the arrangement 3 according to the invention defines a direct optical path between the light source 62 of the light device 6 and the display surface 91 included in the foot 9 without additional reflective surfaces, generating additional space, being necessary.
The light cone makes it possible to define at least in part a directive distribution of the light beam. In the example illustrated, said cone is centered on an optimal radius for which the light is collimated. Here, collimated light means light whose rays are almost parallel to each other when they propagate, so as to provide the most optimal image luminance. The light cone of the FAx light beam considered thus defines, on the display surface, a light halo comprising said optimal radius.
Notamment, la source lumineuse 62 peut être disposée à une distance comprise entre 50mm et 250mm relativement à la surface principale 90.Furthermore, the light source 62 extends at a non-zero distance from the main surface 90 of the foot 9 and therefore, by extension, at a non-zero distance from the display surface 91. In particular, such a distance can be evaluated at within a plane orthogonal to the first direction 100, between a point of the light source and a point of the main surface 90 of the leg 9 closest to each other. In particular, the light source 62 extends at a distance greater than or equal to 50mm relative to the main surface 90. In particular, the light source 62 can be arranged at a distance between 50mm and 250mm relative to the main surface 90.
In particular, when the light device 6 comprises a plurality of light sources 62, all or part of the plurality of light sources 62 extends, within the plane orthogonal to the first direction, 100 so as to define an essentially parallel path to the main surface 90 of the foot 9, that is to say at least 50% parallel to said surface. In other words, all or part of the plurality of light sources 62 can extend equidistant from the main surface 90, in particular from a point on the main surface 90 closest to the light source 62 considered.
Selon différentes alternatives de réalisation, l’inclinaison α du faisceau lumineux considéré peut dépendre de la position de la source lumineuse 62 considérée et/ou du dispositif lumineux 6.According to different alternative embodiments, the inclination α of the light beam considered may depend on the position of the light source 62 considered and/or the light device 6.
Par exemple, tel qu’illustré à la
Alternativement, la source lumineuse 62 peut présenter un positionnement incliné relativement à la planche de bord 2.Alternatively, the light source 62 may have an inclined position relative to the dashboard 2.
De manière avantageuse, la source lumineuse 62 et/ou le dispositif lumineux 6 peut être incliné de sorte que la surface d’affichage 91 est au moins en partie alignée, le long de la première direction 100, avec une surface d’affichage additionnelle propre à un système d’affichage additionnel, tel qu’un système de type WHUD.Advantageously, the light source 62 and/or the light device 6 can be inclined so that the display surface 91 is at least partly aligned, along the first direction 100, with an additional display surface of its own. to an additional display system, such as a WHUD type system.
For example, the display surface 91 can be in the lower two thirds, or even in a lower half, of a length of the foot 9. By “length” is meant the dimension defined along the main direction of extension of the foot 9. As explained previously, the light beam FAx considered being inclined, the display surface 91 preferably extends at a non-zero distance from a base of the foot 9, at which the foot 9 is connected to the dashboard 2, and/or at a non-zero distance from the dashboard 2 along the first direction 100. Otherwise said, the display surface 91 is bordered by a lower border 92 of the foot 9 on which no FAx light beam is projected. In this way, said lower border 92 is interposed between the display surface 91 and the dashboard 2 along the first direction 100, and the light beam emitted is non-grazing relative to the dashboard 2 and prevents any reflection. on the external surface 2a. For example, said lower border can be between 0 and 150 mm, in particular be of the order of 50 mm.
Additionally, a similar principle can be applied to the lateral edges of the foot. In particular, the arrangement 3 may further comprise at least one glazed surface such as a window 31 and/or the windshield 5. The foot extends into contact with the at least one glazed surface considered and the display surface 91 can be laterally bordered by at least one intermediate border, included in the foot and interposed between the display surface and the at least one glazed surface along at least one direction. In particular, the direction considered is orthogonal to the first direction 100, such as the transverse direction and/or the longitudinal direction. Said intermediate border aims in particular to prevent the reflection of the FAx light beam on the at least one glazed surface or the projection of the FAx light beam directly onto said glazed surface.
Also, optionally but preferentially, when the light device comprises a plurality of light sources 62, each light source 62 can emit a distinct light beam Fx configured to be directed towards a distinct zone of the display surface 91 along the first direction 100 and/or along at least one direction orthogonal to the first direction 100. For example, the display surface 91 may comprise a plurality of display zones distributed along the longitudinal direction X and/or along the transverse direction Y. According to an exemplary embodiment, the distinct zones can have the shape of columns of information aligned next to each other along the display surface 91. In particular, adjacent zones can at less partly overlap.
The recess 7 may, in particular, comprise inclined edges 71 participating in directing and/or delimiting the light beam FAx emitted by the light device 6. In particular, such inclined edges 71 can be made in a material aimed at limiting the reflection of the light beam FAx towards other components of the dashboard 2, for example matt or grained materials, for example in a plastic material from the polypropylene family or from the ABS/PC family. Optionally, the inclined edges can be at least partly treated, for example by means of a surface treatment of the graining type.
According to an alternative embodiment, not shown, the light source can be arranged so as to be at least partly flush relative to the opening 21 of the dashboard 2, in particular relative to the external surface 2a of the dashboard 2 In other words, the light outlet 61 and the dashboard 2, in particular the opening 21 of the dashboard 2, are at least partly in the same plane, in particular in a plane orthogonal to the first direction 100. Such a principle applies mutatis mutandis to a plurality of openings 21 and/or light sources 62 as explained previously, then comprising a plurality of distinct light outputs 61.
Optionally but preferentially, the arrangement 3 according to the invention can, in addition, comprise a transparent window, arranged at the level of the opening 21 and configured to be interposed between the light source and the foot 9 along the first direction 100. Such a window is capable of allowing the light beam FAx to pass through and makes it possible to protect the light device 6 from dust and particles likely to be present in the passenger compartment. As a non-limiting example, such a window can be made of polycarbonate with anti-UV varnish, transparent urethane, PMMA or glass. Also, such a window can, advantageously, be removable so as to allow simple access to the light device 6, for example by a technician.
The arrangement 3 then comprises, in addition, at least one control means capable of adapt the intensity of the light beam FAx as a function of the ambient brightness measured by the at least one sensor 8. The at least one sensor 8 is in particular configured not to take into consideration a brightness resulting from the light device 6. For example , one or more sensors 8 can be placed in a central rearview mirror, behind a screen, or at the level of the dashboard 2. The at least one sensor 8 can be placed at the level of the light device 6, so that the board edge 2 is interposed between such a sensor 8 and the display surface 91 along the first direction 100. For example, the at least one sensor 8 can be arranged in the recess 7 as explained previously. Alternatively or additionally, the at least one sensor 8 can be arranged on the dashboard 2, that is to say so as to be interposed between said dashboard 2 and the display surface 91 along at least one direction. In particular, preferably, the at least one sensor 8 is arranged near the opening 21 of the dashboard 2 allowing the passage of the light beam FAx. By “around” we mean that the at least one sensor 8 is arranged in a zone bordering the opening 21 of the order of 0 to 20 cm, or even 10 cm, in particular along the longitudinal direction X. Such principle can extend to a plurality of light sources 62, and therefore light beams considered, and/or to a plurality of openings 21.
The arrangement according to the present invention thus advantageously presents a reduced bulk adapted to allow the integration of such devices in vehicles of varied types, models and/or sizes, even when these have a side before congested, in particular due to the presence of the HVAC installation in the case of motor vehicles. The arrangement is further suitable for projecting information onto different types of windshield pillar legs while preventing unwanted reflections from adjacent glass surfaces. The arrangement according to the invention also allows a simplified electrical and electronic connection of the lighting device, due to its positioning at the level of the dashboard. The arrangement according to the invention can also be implemented in combination with any type of known HUD or WHUD type display systems.
The present invention cannot, however, be limited to the means and modes described and illustrated here and it also extends to any equivalent means or mode and to any technically effective combination of such means insofar as they ultimately fulfill the functionalities described and illustrated. in this document.
