Un procédé, mis en oeuvre par des moyens informatiques, de diagnostic d'au moins un défaut d'un alternateur par mesure d'au moins un paramètre physique représentatif d'un fonctionnement de l'alternateur, comprend : - une obtention d'un contenu spectral de référence représentatif d'un état initial de l'alternateur, l'état initial correspondant à un état de fonctionnement normal de l'alternateur ; - une mesure, pendant un fonctionnement en cours de l'alternateur, d'un contenu spectral courant comprenant au moins un signal courant du paramètre physique ; - une comparaison du contenu spectral courant au contenu spectral de référence, pour une amplitude associée à au moins une fréquence prédéterminée, pour estimer une variation entre l'amplitude associée à ladite au moins une fréquence prédéterminée dans le contenu spectral courant et l'amplitude associée à la même fréquence prédéterminée dans le contenu spectral de référence ; et - si une valeur absolue de la variation est supérieure à un seuil choisi, une détermination d'une probabilité de présence d'un défaut de l'alternateur.A method, implemented by computer means, for diagnosing at least one fault of an alternator by measuring at least one physical parameter representative of an operation of the alternator, comprises: obtaining a reference spectral content representative of an initial state of the alternator, the initial state corresponding to a normal operating state of the alternator; a measurement, during current operation of the alternator, of a current spectral content comprising at least one current signal of the physical parameter; a comparison of the current spectral content with the reference spectral content, for an amplitude associated with at least one predetermined frequency, to estimate a variation between the amplitude associated with said at least one predetermined frequency in the current spectral content and the associated amplitude at the same predetermined frequency in the reference spectral content; and - if an absolute value of the variation is greater than a selected threshold, determining a probability of the presence of an alternator fault.
