Abstract

The method involves detecting data loss relative to a non-received parity data packet by a receiving device, and verifying whether a transmitter device retransmits the non-received parity data packet according to a criterion applied to flow source data used to generate non-received packet parity data. Transmission of non-receiving indication message toward the sending device is stopped by the non-received parity data packet receiving device if retransmission of the non-received parity data packet is not required. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for implementing a method for managing a data stream transmitted by a transmitting device via a communication link (2) a computer-readable storage unit for storing a computer program comprising a set of instructions for implementing a method for managing a data stream transmitted by a transmitting device via a communication link (3) a receiving device comprising units for managing data stream transmitted by a transmitting device.
