Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method of sponsoring accounts, such as restaurant or canteen accounts, on which it is possible to perform operations using a card, such as a magnetic card or a smart card. In what follows, there is a person holding a card, which is normally associated with the account of this person, and a person carrying a card, who can be both the card holder and the person whose account was sponsored according to the method of the invention. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION All colleges and high schools that implement card access control for access to the restaurant of their establishment encounter difficulties in dealing with the problem of forgotten cards. Indeed, unlike a rigid use of the card that can be imposed on an adult in a commercial or professional setting, the school can not in practice refuse access to the school restaurant to a student with the pre-text that he would not have his access card on him. As a result, different procedures are usually put in place by schools to deal with this difficulty as little as possible, such as: - note on a notebook the name of the student who has forgotten his / her card and pass it on another card called "MAP PASS" held by a supervisor; - require the student to return to the housekeeping to obtain a "provisional" card; 2 to use in the restaurant a remote control or a portable terminal which allows to enter the name of the student with possible sending an order to the dispensing device tray to pass the student; - use a computer associated with the device to enter the name of the student, then after visual control of the rights of the student on the screen of the computer, sending an order to the device distributor trays to pass the Student.
All these procedures require the intervention of personnel to treat the card forgetting when the case arises. This constraint is a frequent criticism of facility managers, especially since institutions are seeing their supervisory staff (supervisors, stewardship staff, ...) decrease. Some schools allow a student to double-use their card to allow the distracted student to eat, with the two students arranging each other to re-credit the card's account; but this procedure may encourage racketeering, so it is very rarely used. Some schools are opting for the installation of a biometric reader reading the handprint to replace the reader of the card, but the implementation of biometric devices in schools is often controversial. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The object of the invention is to facilitate the handling of card forgetting cases efficiently and without the intervention of personnel. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION In view of achieving this goal, there is provided a method of sponsoring accounts managed by a computer system, comprising the steps of: in response to the introduction of a card in a computer terminal, identifying the cardholder; in response to successful identification, propose a sponsorship option; in response to the choice of sponsorship option, to ask for references to identify an account to be sponsored, and to ask the account holder to sponsor to identify themselves; in response to the successful identification, at least temporarily associate the card with the account to be sponsored so that the card can be used to make at least one future transaction on the sponsored account. Thus, when a pupil notices that he has forgotten his restaurant card, he goes to a friend who can sponsor him for the visit to the restaurant. The two students then approach the management terminal and the godfather introduces the card he holds in the management terminal. After identification (by simply reading the card, or more securely, by requesting a secret code associated with the card), the godfather accesses a menu proposing a sponsorship option. 4 The sponsor then indicates the name of the stunned student, or his card number or account, in short, any reference allowing the terminal to identify the account to sponsor. The student who has forgotten his card identifies himself, for example by entering the secret code associated with the forgotten card. Therefore, the sponsor's card is associated with the sponsored account, for at least the next upcoming transaction, and the sponsored student can use the card of his godfather to perform a transaction on his account, for example a visit to the restaurant. Thus, for the same meal, the card is used a first time by the sponsored student, so that information such as the time of passage in restoration, the withdrawal of a tray, or the debit of a sum of Money corresponding to the value of the meal is recorded on the account par-groé, and the card is used a second time by the student holding the card, so that the corresponding information is registered in the usual account.
Thus, everything happens as if the sponsored student had used his own card. It will be noted that the provisions of the invention prevent someone from being sponsored without his knowledge, since an identification of the sponsored student is mandatory. Similarly, it is impossible to be sponsored without someone's knowledge, since the sponsor must first identify himself with his card. In practice, the sponsorship can be done on a computer terminal separate from the terminal on which the transactions are made, for example on the terminal which is usually used to recharge the accounts in units.
Selon encore d'autres aspects particuliers, le pro-cédé de l'invention comporte diverses étapes de sécurité pour éviter un détournement malveillant de la procédure, notamment : 6 According to a particular aspect of the invention, the forthcoming transaction made using the card immediately after the sponsorship is automatically attributed to the sponsored account Alternatively, the account on which each of the transactions authorized under the sponsorship scheme must be allocated is determined by asking the cardholder to identify himself again at the time of the transaction. Thus, each of the transactions is no longer assigned according to a predetermined preferential order, but according to whoever uses the card and who identifies himself. According to another particular aspect of the invention, the sponsoring method comprises the interruption of the association between the cardholder's card and the sponsored account as soon as a certain number of transactions have been made with this card, which is sufficient for the half-board students who return home every day so that the stunned student will have recovered his own card for the next day's meal, and avoids any further problem of debiting the sponsored account without the knowledge of the student whose account was sponsored. In particular, we can cause the cancellation of the sponsorship after the first transaction, assigning of course this transaction to the sponsored account. The student who holds the card then uses his card after the student whose account has been sponsored, in the usual way. According to still other particular aspects, the method of the invention comprises various security steps to avoid a malicious diversion of the procedure, in particular:
The invention is of course not limited to what has just been described. In particular, it is obvious that the sponsoring method of the invention applies to fields other than the management of school catering, such as the access control of buildings, the management of bank accounts associated with credit card...
