Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing transition effects in real time between a first and a second TV transmission video channel on a display screen, in which method: a first and a second TV transmission video source are processed and decoded simultaneously in a first and a second processing pathway respectively so as to generate said first and second TV transmission video channels; in response to a directive to switch from the current display of the first TV transmission video channel to the display of the second TV transmission video channel, the first and second TV transmission video channels thus decoded are digitally combined in a combiner for a predetermined duration. Said combination involves generating a transition video signal displaying a progressive disappearance of the first TV transmission video channel and a progressive appearance of the second TV transmission video channel.
