According to a particular embodiment, the preparation process comprises at least one step of thermal degradation under vacuum of a compound of Formula (II): AxGyMz in which: - A represents an alkali metal, in particular chosen from lithium, sodium and potassium , - x represents an integer ranging from 1 to 20, in particular from 2 to 15, and in particular from 3 to 12, or even from 4 to 10, - G represents silicon, - y represents an integer ranging from 1 to 10 , in particular from 1 to 6, or even from 1 to 4 - M represents a noble or semi-noble metal, in particular chosen from aluminum, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, silver, tin, and z represents an integer ranging from 1 at 5, especially from 1 to 3, or even from 1 to 2. This process is also called thermal degradation process or solid process. This process can make it possible to obtain a phase containing silicon and at least one noble or semi-noble metal having a good specific capacity.
The compound of formula AxGyMz can be further called ternary phase or Zintl phase. This ternary phase can be treated by thermal degradation.
To carry out the thermal degradation, the ternary phase may be in the form of a powder, and in particular in the form of small particles. This powder can especially be obtained by grinding in a mortar of the ternary phase. The thermal degradation process can be carried out under vacuum, that is to say at a reduced pressure, in particular a pressure of less than or equal to 10 -4 mbar, in particular less than or equal to 10-5 mbar, and particularly lower or equals 10-6 mbar. The thermal degradation is carried out at high temperature, in particular at a temperature greater than or equal to 500 ° C., in particular greater than or equal to 600 ° C., or even greater than or equal to 650 ° C., in particular in the case of lithium. This thermal degradation is carried out over a period of several hours, in particular over a period ranging from 10 to 30 hours, in particular from 15 to 25 hours, and in particular from 18 to 24 hours. Of course, these parameters can be optimized by those skilled in the art, in particular as a function of the starting ternary phase, in particular of the nature of the element A and / or the intended application, for example for lithium-ion batteries or for emission in the infra-red. For example a microscopic observation showing a black powder and silver metallic clusters, an X-ray diffraction analysis showing fine lines corresponding to the silver showing the presence of grains larger than 50 nm, can lead the man of the Occupation to deduce that the conditions of the thermal degradation have been too drastic, for example in terms of time, pressure and / or temperature or X-ray diffraction analysis can show an alkali metal residue and thus lead the Man of the business to deduce that the conditions are too soft, especially in terms of duration, pressure and / or temperature.
This thermal degradation process may in particular make it possible to extract all or part of the alkali metal, and in particular lithium, from the ternary phase. An X-ray diffraction analysis makes it possible to identify the presence of two phases of the elements G and M, the width of the lines makes it possible to define a grain size of less than 100 nm. An observation by electron microscopy (scanning and / or transmission) coupled with chemical analysis makes it possible to define a particular structure to the process: the particles of M are dispersed homogeneously in a matrix of particles of G.
The particles of G and M having nanometric sizes, in particular ranging from 1 to 200 nm, especially from 2 to 100 nm, in particular from 2 to 80 nm.
Kevorkov (D.G. Kevorkov, V.V. Pavlyuk, O.I. Bodak, Polish Journal of Chemistry, 71(6) (1997) 712) pour sa part décrit Li8Ag3Si5, Li3Ag2Si3 et Li2AgSi2. The synthesis of this ternary phase can be carried out according to procedures described in the literature, in particular by Schuster and Kevorkov. The article by Schuster (H.U. Schuster, W. Seelentag, Zeitschrift fur naturforschung, Tell B: anorganische chemie, organische chemie, 30B (1975) 804) describes a ternary system Li8Ag3Si5. Kevorkov (D. G. Kevorkov, V. V. Pavlyuk, O.I. Bodak, Polish Journal of Chemistry, 71 (6) (1997) 712) describes Li8Ag3Si5, Li3Ag2Si3 and Li2AgSi2.
For the Pauly phase, there is no structural resolution (the phase is simply mentioned). Schuster describes Li8Ag3Si5 as isostructural of Li8Ag3Ge5. For the Kevorkov compounds, the structures were solved by the rietveld method (mesh parameters + crystal structure) from powder. The synthesis was carried out under vacuum in quartz bulbs at 200 C for 400h. The ternary phase can in particular be prepared by heat treatment, particularly as described in the literature by H. Pauly, A. Weiss, H. Witte, Z. Metallkde, 59 (1) (1968) 47. The preparation of the Formula (II), or ternary phase, may comprise at least one step of heating a mixture comprising (and in particular consisting of elements constituting the desired product): at least one alkali metal, especially chosen from lithium, sodium and potassium - Silicon, - at least one noble or semi-noble metal, especially selected from aluminum, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, silver and tin. These elements may have a purity greater than or equal to 95, especially greater than or equal to 98%, in particular greater than or equal to 99%, and most preferably greater than or equal to 99.5% by weight. The amount of each element can be determined in relation to the content thereof in the final ternary mixture. In particular, the quantities are estimated stoichiometrically. More precisely, as a first approach, the quantities are estimated with respect to the stoichiometry of the envisaged compound, possibly with an excess of the alkaline component, then these proportions are refined by trial and error type tests. The increase in temperature, in particular to go from room temperature to the temperature of the heating phase, can be carried out at a speed ranging from 20 to 500 C / h, in particular from 50 to 200 C / h, or even 80 to 150 C / h, especially 100 C / h. The heating is carried out at a high temperature to allow an intimate mixing of the elements. The temperature is determined by taking into account the risk of loss of element A by evaporation and the necessity that A be present in liquid form. The temperature can therefore be adjusted between the melting point and the boiling point of element A, in particular greater than or equal to 600 ° C., in particular greater than or equal to 750 ° C., and more particularly greater than or equal to 850 ° C., especially in the case where A is Lithium.
The duration of this heating can be a few hours, especially from 1 to 10 hours, including 2 to 8 hours, or even 4 to 6 hours. In particular, the mixture is stirred during the heating phase. In particular it is stirred from 1 to 20 times during this phase.
The mixture may undergo an annealing phase, in particular following the heating phase. This phase can be performed at a temperature lower than that of the heating phase. The temperature of the annealing phase may be less than 100 to 400.degree. C., in particular less than 150 to 350.degree. C., in particular less than 200 to 300.degree. C. relative to the heating temperature. The temperature of the annealing phase can range from 500 to 850.degree. C., in particular from 550 to 800.degree. C., in particular from 600 to 750.degree. C. The annealing phase can last a few hours, in particular from 3 to 30 hours, in particular from 5 to 30.degree. at 25 hours, or even 7 to 20 hours, especially 8 to 12 hours.
When the temperatures decrease, in particular between the heating phase and the annealing phase, and / or between the annealing phase and the ambient temperature, this temperature decrease can be carried out at a speed ranging from 1 to 20 C / h, in particular 4 to 16 C / h, or even 8 to 12 C / h.
The material obtained can be recovered under an inert atmosphere by opening the tube and the powder is transferred to the reactor for the thermal degradation step.
The material can be used as it is without further processing.

According to another particular embodiment, the preparation process comprises at least the following steps: contacting an oxidizing solvent with a compound of Formula (III): AxGy in which: A represents at least one metal alkali or alkaline earth, especially selected from lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, magnesium and calcium, x represents an integer ranging from 1 to 12, especially from 1 to 10, in particular from 1 to 8, - G represents at least at least one element of group 14, especially chosen from silicon, germanium, tin and lead, and - y represents an integer ranging from 1 to 17, in particular from 1 to 15, in particular from 1 to 13, or even from 1 to 10, and - recovering the compound of formula (IV) below Ax'Gy in which x 'is an integer less than x, and in particular equal to 0, that is to say that the alkali metal and / or alkaline earth metal has been extracted , at least in part, said compound being in particular in the form of nano-pa reticulates, in particular of size between 2 and 100 nm for a spherical geometry or with a diameter of between 2 and 20 nm and a length of between 5 and 10,000 nm for an elongated geometry. The size can be deduced from direct observation by electron microscopy.
This preparation process is still called a liquid process. The oxidizing solvent can have both of the following characteristics: -reporting at least one oxidizing function, that is to say that allows, by reaction with an alkaline, in particular of the Sodium (Na) or potassium (K) type, to release H2 this function may especially be chosen from alcohol, amine, thiol, carbonyl, carboxylic acid and phosphonic acid, and comprising at least one alkyl, aryl or aralkyl group. Among the oxidizing solvents, benzyl alcohols, in particular mono- or poly-substituted alcohols, for example with one or more alkyl radicals, may be mentioned in particular.
In particular, the alkyl, aryl and aralkyl groups are bulky enough to stabilize the nanoparticles.
The process according to the invention can make it possible to control the size and / or the crystallinity, in particular the nature of the crystalline planes of the facets of the nanoparticles. In particular, these nanoparticles can be amorphous. This may especially allow a good insertion of alkali metal and / or alkaline earth in said nanoparticles. The invention also relates to a material that can be obtained by a process according to the invention. The invention also relates to a material for the insertion, at least partly reversible, of at least one element of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal type obtainable by the process according to the invention. In particular, this material has a mass capacity greater than or equal to 800 mA.hg "1, in particular greater than or equal to 1000 mA.hg" 1, in particular greater than or equal to 1200 mA.hg-1, or even greater than or equal to 1400 mA.hg-1. Especially, during the first transition metal charge, this material can go from a MySiz state to a LixMySiz state, and then change from a LixMySiz state to a Lix'MySiz state in a reversible manner, at least during a number of times. During the electrochemical cycle, there is also the presence of the LixMy compound, typically LiAg, which improves the electronic and ionic conductivity of the material. In particular, the material that can be obtained by the thermal degradation process has at least two phases, each of which may correspond to an element in the elemental state or of a pure body, in particular at least one noble or semi-stable metal, and silicon. The material according to the invention may especially be in the form of nanoparticles of G and / or pure M, especially as represented in FIG. 6. For the purposes of the present invention, the term "pure nanoparticle" means a nanoparticle comprising at least 98 %, especially at least 99%, in particular at least 99.9% by weight of the compound in the nanoparticles. This material can be in the form of a dispersion of nanoparticles of G or M, in particular of homogeneous size, dispersed in a matrix of M or G, particularly nanoparticles of M in a matrix of G or nanoparticles of G in a matrix of M. In particular, this material may be in the form of a nanocrystalline matrix, especially with grains ranging in size from 2 to 100 nm in G, and in particular silicon. In particular, the G is crystallized in a thermodynamically stable form and / or the metal M in the form of nanoparticles, in particular of a size ranging from 2 to 50 nm. With respect to a material obtained by grinding or mechanosynthesis, we remark a very good homogeneity of the dispersion of the nanoparticles M in the matrix of G, and in particular of silicon.
In particular, the material according to the invention can be used in a battery, in particular of lithium-ion type. In particular as a constituent of the anode, alone or in combination with other components.
In the case of materials in the form of nanoparticles, the anodes can be produced by simple deposition or compression of these nanoparticles by press or SPS (Spark Plasma Sintering) techniques. The material according to the invention, in particular when it is obtained by the thermal oxidation method under vacuum, may have two nanocrystalline phase structures (G and M), in particular intimately interleaved with a large interface between the two. phases, as shown in FIG. 6. The material according to the invention, in particular when it is obtained by the oxidation process in solution, may be in the form of nanoparticles having a non-oxidized surface, that is to say that this surface is substantially completely unoxidized, or even totally unoxidized, according to conventional surface analysis techniques. In particular, the nanoparticles have a size less than or equal to 5 nm, in particular less than or equal to 4 nm, more particularly less than or equal to 3 nm, or even less than or equal to 2.5 nm. These nanoparticles can exhibit remarkable crystallinity. A remarkable crystallinity can be defined by the fact that the size observed by X-ray diffraction corresponds substantially to the size observed by transmission electron microscopy. By substantially we can especially hear a difference less than or equal to 25%, especially less than or equal to 15%, in particular less than or equal to 10%, especially less than or equal to 7.5%, or even less than or equal to 5% .
The fact that the shape of these nanoparticles can be controlled can also make it possible to modulate the electronic properties, in particular the optical properties. The following examples illustrate the invention.
This powder is placed in a small tube of alumina itself placed in a stainless steel tube, the assembly is inserted into a silica tube closed by a tap. The stainless steel tube protects the silica from attacks by lithium vapors. The assembly consists of three tubes: the small tube of alumina in which the powder is contained, the stainless steel tube and finally the silica tube. Such an assembly is illustrated in FIG.
The assembly is then mounted directly on the vacuum ramp. The primary vacuum is first done with an oil pump, then a secondary vacuum is created with a diffusion pump with a resistor. The vacuum obtained with the silica tube is of the order of 10 -4 mbar. The tube mounted on the vacuum ramp is then slid into a horizontal tubular furnace. A cooler is installed at the outlet of the stainless steel tube to allow the condensation of lithium at the exit of the alumina tube.
Dégradation 1 2 3 4 Température 550 650 650 650 [ C] Vide [bar] 10-6 10-6 10-6 10-6 Durée [H] 15 15 24 30 Phases LiAgSi Ag, Si 'Ag, Si Ag détectées Ag, LiAgSi aggloméré, par DRX autre Si Tableau 1 Conditions expérimentales des différentes dégradations thermiques pour le composé Li13Ag5Si6 The new vacuum conditions required different tests to extract all the lithium contained in the sample. Temperatures ranging from 550 ° C. to 650 ° C. were tested as well as extraction times ranging from 15 to 30 hours. The results of four degradations with different temperature and time conditions are collated in the following Table 1. Degradation 1 2 3 4 Temperature 550 650 650 650 [C] Vacuum [bar] 10-6 10-6 10-6 10-6 Duration [H] 15 15 24 30 Phases LiAgSi Ag, Si 'Ag, Si Ag detected Ag, LiAgSi agglomerated, by DRX other Si Table 1 Experimental conditions of different thermal degradation for the compound Li13Ag5Si6
The first degradation was carried out at 550 ° C. for 15 hours. The analysis of the product obtained by powder X-ray diffraction shows that the main phase is the Li13Ag5Si6 starting phase, in a lesser amount silver and impurities are observed. It can therefore be assumed that the thermal degradation of this compound at 550 ° C does not make it possible to extract lithium. A second test at 650 C for 15 hours was performed. The analysis of the X-ray product shows that the starting compound decomposed into pure pure silver and silicon bodies, but there remains a residue of the starting phase. To allow to extract all the lithium we decided to extend the degradation time to 24 hours. This test is conclusive and the present phases are silver and silicon. To complete these tests we maintained the degradation temperature at 650 C and extended the extraction time to 30 hours. The product observed under the microscope shows a black powder and silver metallic clusters, allowing to deduce that the degradation of 30 hours is too long and causes agglomeration of silver.
The optimal conditions of thermal degradation under a vacuum of 10-6 mbar for the compound Li13Ag5Si6 are a temperature of 650 C for 24 hours. The evolution of powder X-ray diffractograms of the various degradations is shown in Figure 4 in which deg 1, 2, 3 and 4 means degradation conditions 1, 2, 3 and 4 as presented in Table 1. It can be see in this figure the gradual disappearance of the synthesized phase Li13Ag5Si6 which disappears totally to the degradation 3. We see the appearance of silver peaks from the first degradation, and finally the appearance of silicon peaks from degradation 2. Our aim now is to study in more detail the powder diagram of the degraded product and to know the morphology of the obtained silver and silicon particles. The X-ray powder diffractogram of the product obtained after the thermal degradation under vacuum of Li13Ag5Si6 compound shows the presence of two phases. These are actually two elements in the elemental state, silver and silicon. This diffractogram is presented in FIG.
MET micrographs of the degradation product are shown in FIG.
Le régime imposé est de 1 lithium en 10 heures et la fenêtre de potentiel comprise entre 0,01 V et 2 V. Example 3 Use in Electrochemistry The products degraded according to the degradation of Example 2 were then tested in electrochemistry in Swagelock type cells. The imposed regime is 1 lithium in 10 hours and the potential window between 0.01 V and 2 V.
The insertion of lithium into the AgSi matrix makes it possible to reach the Li8AgSi stoichiometry, after the first charge, one extracts up to 6 lithium atoms to reach Li2AgSi stoichiometry. The capacity decreases gradually during subsequent cycles (Figure 7). The cyclability curve (FIG. 8) shows that the capacities obtained for the first cycles are very high (1500, 1200 mA.h.g-1).
To understand the mechanisms we have shown in Figures 9 and 10 the tests in cycling in potentiodynamic mode. For the first cycle, during the first discharge we observe an intense peak at 0.02 V which corresponds to the plateau on the curve in galvanostatic mode (phase change), there are then two small peaks at 0.25 V and 0.78 V (insertion of Li into the amorphous carbon). During the first charge we observe 3 peaks: two small 0.1 V and 0.28 V, a wide and intense at 0.45V (single-phase phenomenon). During the 2nd cycle, the phenomena are reproducible and the peaks are more intense.
Example 4: Preparation of the alloy K4Ge9 The alloys are prepared from the elements weighed in a stoichiometric amount in a glove box. Potassium (Aldrich 99.5%, rod, m = 0.630 g) and germanium (Strem, powder, 99.999%) are placed in a tantalum tube sealed at one end, the second end of which is then sealed under argon. The tantalum tube is protected from any high temperature oxidation by a vacuum-sealed silica tube. The whole is heated to 730 C for 24 hours, then 930 C for 24 hours. The alloy obtained is homogeneous, of black color with red reflections and characterized by X-ray diffraction on powder (cell under argon bell) and stored in glove box. K4Ge9 presents an arrangement of the group 14 atoms in polyhedra (Ge94- in the form of trigonal tricapose prism). Example 5: Process for synthesizing germanium nanoparticles. The K4Ge9 alloy (100 mg) prepared according to the method described above is introduced in a glove box in a glass reactor having a rotaflo type outlet. On a vacuum ramp, 10 mL of benzyl alcohol previously dried over molecular sieve and degassed with argon is added by means of a cannula. The mixture is stirred for two hours at room temperature. The black solution is then placed in a centrifuge tube. Centrifugation at 4000 rpm for 20 minutes gives a black powder. Characterization by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy makes it possible to establish the presence of germanium nanoparticles with a mean diameter of 2.0 +/- 0.2 nm (diamond structure of solid germanium). These nanoparticles are shown in FIG. 11 and the X-ray diffraction of these particles is shown in FIG.
The powder of germanium nanoparticles (8.5 mg) is compacted in a glove box with 1.5 mg of graphite to form a pellet. The anode is tested in galvanostatic mode at a C / 10 regime (1 lithium ion inserted in 10 hours) between 0.01 and 2.5V. The discharge / charge electrochemical curve is shown in FIG. 16. A low polarization (difference between charge and discharge) can be seen during cycling. Germanium inserts almost 3 lithium ions. As the figure shows, once the first discharge is done, the cycles are simply shifted. However, the first cycle shows an irreversible capacity loss of 360 mAh.g-1. The loss of capacity as cycling is relatively important (about 100 mAh.g-1), but decreases between each cycle.
