Abstract

The method involves periodically regenerating a particle filter (7) by eliminating polluting substances from the filter, using four electrically driven injectors (9-12). The moment of regeneration is chosen based on prior operating conditions of a vehicle, e.g. number of kilometers traveled by the vehicle, from the last regeneration and estimation of future operating conditions provided by a navigation system (30).
