Abstract

The bookmark (1) consists of a piece of a relatively rigid material such as glazed card, designed to be inserted between pages and having a ribbon (6) attached. One surface of the card, which can be made in the form of a visiting card or used for publicity purposes, has a zone of adhesive for attaching the bookmark temporarily to a page in a book to mark a given point. The bookmark can also have an additional section (3) which folds over the surface with the adhesive.

Description

 The present invention relates to the field of publishing.

 It is well known to use a bookmark to mark the page of a book, that is to say a ribbon fixed at one end to the upper edge of the book.

 However, for reasons of manufacturing cost, the majority of books currently published are devoid of slicerail and bookmark and the reader must, to mark a page, either cut it, which damages it, or insert a mark such that a piece of paper between the pages, which is not entirely satisfactory since it frequently happens that such a mark leaves the work or ceases to be apparent.

 The object of the invention is to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks.

 It achieves this thanks to a new tracking device, characterized in that it comprises a ribbon secured to a support member able to be inserted between two pages of a book and coated at least partially on one side with an adhesive allowing its removable fixing on one of said pages.

 In a preferred embodiment, the support member comprises a flap that can be folded over the adhesive.

 Still in a preferred embodiment, the support member is made of a relatively rigid material such as glossy cardboard for example.

 The invention also relates to a book provided with a tracking device according to the invention.

 Thanks to the invention, it is possible to mark the page of a book by means of a ribbon without encountering the manufacturing problems associated with the manner of fixing the bookmarks in accordance with the prior art.

 The locating device according to the invention can be manufactured at a relatively low cost independently of the binding of the book, which may not include any slicer.

 The locating device 1 shown in FIG. 1 comprises a support member 2 comprising two flaps 3,4 of glossy cardboard, the flap 3 which, after pivoting around a fold line 5, can be folded over the flap 4 and be superimposed exactly to him.

 A ribbon 6, constituted for example by a braid of synthetic threads, is fixed at one end to the flap 4 by any suitable means.

 In the example described, the flap 4 has a slot 7 and the ribbon 6 is introduced through the latter and then folded down and fixed on itself by gluing or welding to form a loop.

 As can be seen in FIG. 2, the flap 4 is covered on one of its faces with an adhesive 8.

 This adhesive 8 which extends over only part of the face of the flap 4 in the example described allows the removable fixing of the support member 2 on the page P of a book L, as illustrated in FIG. 3.

 The surface thus rendered adhesive present in the example describes a circular contour.

 The adhesive 8 known in itself, has the distinction of adhering more strongly to the flap 4 than to page P.

 The adhesive 8 can be applied during the manufacture of the locating device directly on the flap 4 or alternatively constitute the outer layer of a multilayer structure fixed on the latter.

 Preferably, as shown in the figures, the support member 2 is shaped in an arrow at the end opposite to the ribbon 6 to constitute a pointer. The reader can thus position the support member 2 so as to indicate precisely the place where it stops reading. It should be noted that even if the support member is not shaped so as to constitute a pointer, it nevertheless makes it possible to signal the reader that the reading has stopped on the left or right page in being pasted on the page in question.

 The adhesive 8 can be protected from dust and other dirt before the first use of the tracking device or between each use by a removable protective film or alternatively, when the support member 2 has two flaps 3, 4 which can be folded down one on the other as is the case in the example described, by folding the flap 3 on the flap 4 so as to cover the adhesive 8. In a variant not shown, the tape 6 is secured at its end opposite the support member 2 to an object such as a medallion for example, which may possibly serve to protect the adhesive 8 before the first use of the tracking device or between each use.

 The locating device 1 can be offered to consumers when the book is sold, in which case it is advantageously held on the latter by a transparent plastic film letting it appear.

 Alternatively, the tracking device 1 can be sold separately.

 In the embodiment described, the support member 2 has substantially the same format as a business card when the flaps 3 and 4 are superimposed and the tracking device according to the invention can advantageously be used as a business card by publishing professionals. It can also serve as an advertising medium.

 It will be noted that the locating device according to the invention is easier to use than the bookmarks of the prior art thanks to the fact that it is easily displaceable, the support member being able to be detached from the book before any manipulation of the ribbon. In addition, the support member 2 can be fixed between the pages P of the book L without protruding outside of the latter, therefore without risking being chipped. The adhesive 8 prevents it from slipping and falling when the book is opened or during transport.

Locating device intended to mark the page of a book, characterized in that it comprises a ribbon (6) fixed to a support member (2) able to be inserted between the pages of a book and coated at least partially on one side of an adhesive (8) allowing its removable fixing on one of said pages (P).  2. Locating device according to claim 1, characterized in that said support member (2) comprises a flap (3) which can be folded over the adhesive (8).  3. Locating device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said support member (2) is made of a relatively rigid material such as glossy cardboard.  4. Locating device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that said support member (2) is shaped so as to constitute a pointer.  5. Locating device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support member (2) has substantially the same format as a business card.  6.
