Abstract

The speakers are mounted in the top of the seat back enabling handsfree use of mobile telephone. The vehicle seat comprises a squab (2) and a back (3). The back extends up to a top surface (4) which also provides the base for supporting a head restraint (5) on two vertical posts (7). The head restraint may be adjusted in height to suit the occupant. Two loudspeakers (8) are mounted in the top surface of the back of the seat, with their diaphragms directed upwards towards the ears (9) of the occupant. The loudspeakers are sufficiently far apart that when the head restraint is moved to its lowest position it does not obstruct the speaker outputs. Each speaker may have a diameter which is less than 5 cm.
