Abstract

The hydraulic damper door closer comprises a casing containing a hydraulic fluid and a piston (2). The piston has a skirt which delimits the casing into two variable volume chambers. A return spring supported against the piston skirt returns it to a door closed position. Three pipes connecting the two casing chambers transfer fluid between the chambers. The first pipe has a non-return valve which opens when the piston is displaced to a door opening position. The second pipe has a valve with a calibrated spring and the third pipe has an adjustable constriction. The door is locked in the open position by temporarily sealing one of the three pipes. This is achieved by a valve seat (27) and a valve (26) translatable in direction and a valve rod (28) housed partially in the pipe. A return spring (29) assists the rod to separate the valve from its seat. A control in contact with these locking components comprises an electro-magnet (38) and a pivoting lever (33) connected to the electro-magnet and to the valve for compressing the return spring. The door damper is integrated within the door lintel and is inaccessible to acts of vandalism.
