Abstract

The antenna element consists of a microstrip section (SU) mounted at right angles to a support (PM), leaving a gap (PT) between the microstrip section and the edge of the support. The microstrip has a metallised outer section (M1,M2) with a central free area (E1,E2) forming a notch on each side. The notch starts from the free microstrip edge (BC). The notch has a wide section narrowing to a second narrower section. The notch dimensions provide a fixed phase centre in a narrow band of around 10% of desired centre frequency.
