Abstract

The method enables the viewing of photographs stored as transparencies or negatives which are held within a magazine (9,10). Each photograph is viewed using a video read head (17), and is ascribed a reference number according to its position within the magazine. The photograph information is then stored within the memory (25) of a database (B). The photographs may be grouped in series and information is stored, enabling the viewing of these photos in series. Using the database enables photographs to be found automatically in response to a request, either according to their ID numbers or using information about the photographs which is also stored with them in the database. The information may include the data taken, the name, person, photographic subject etc.
